Nutrition & Supplements
Our philosophy on nutrition is based upon the idea that if the body has certain dietary deficiencies then it can not perform the proper functions needed to maintain optimal health. Due to the lack of quality foods in the average american diet there is a mass epidemic of malnutrition and health concerns within our nation. Many people suffer from toxic overload caused from the by products that are put in our foods such as hormones, antibiotics, pesticides, and processed chemicals. These toxic burdens and dietary deficiencies can lead to an array of health conditions.
When you come in for a nutritional consultation we will go over your typically daily diet. We will try to determine what foods may be causing issues within your body. Often times people have been eating certain food allergens unknowingly for years without realizing they are causing problems. Food allergens are considered any food that causes an allergic reaction inside the body. These reactions can present as mild symptoms such as hives, eczema, nausea, diarrhea, stomach pain, runny nose, and sneezing. More severe symptoms may present as shortness of breath, drop in blood pressure, chest pain, weakened pulse, loss of consciousness, and trouble swallowing due to swelling of the throat and tongue. The 8 main food allergens that account for 90% of all food related reactions include dairy (lactose/casein), wheat (gluten), eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, soy, fish, and shellfish. Our goal is to help you identify these allergens and eliminate them from your diet.
Another form of nutritional support we provide is through the use of dietary supplements. We use organic whole food based supplements that give your body the proper support needed. These supplements can help to stabilize and correct the vitamin, mineral, and nutrient deficiencies within the body. Because no two people are the same we will come up with a nutritional program that is tailored towards your individual needs. Often times we will tweak your supplement regimen through the course of treatment as we notice different changes within the body.
We can also help you create a weight loss program. After discussing your personal goals we can determine what program is best suited for you. As most people have heard a balanced diet is essential to your health, but realizing this fact is often easier said than done. Information on creating a healthy balanced diet will be discussed together during your course of treatment. Due to the toxic burden created by many of our foods, we often have trouble losing weight and staying healthy. If this is the case for you, we may chose to start your weight loss program with a 21 day cleanse that works to detoxify your body. We will determine which foods may be contributing to your weight gain and inform you how to avoid them. Together we can also come up with an exercise program to give you that extra boost needed to lose that extra belly fat. It is often better to vary your exercises from day to day in order to keep your body from hitting that proverbial plateau that prevents you from losing weight.
This process of improving your overall health through nutrition is a team effort. We will give you our best recommendations and it is up to you whether or not you want to follow through with them. Dietary habits are often hard to break in the beginning, but they are sometimes needed in order to get you back on track to great health. We are here to help you through this process and give you guidance along the way.
